Chelsea’s new manager Thomas Tuchel was left red-faced after Christian Pulisic was forced to correct him when he called a player by the wrong name.
Tuchel saw his side held to a 0-0 draw in his first game on Wednesday night as they failed to break down a resilient Wolves side.
The Blues dominated possession of the ball and had their fair share of chances throughout.
Tuchel is clearly still getting to grips with the club and his players, and admitted after the game that he will provide opportunities for minutes for the majority of the squad.
But he suffered a faux pas at half-time while trying to give instructions to Cesar Azpilicueta.
Tuchel was seen shouting: “Azpli! Azpli!” to the defender, only for Pulisic to come over and correct him.
The German boss, who worked with Pulisic during their time together at Borussia Dortmund, was then filmed laughing with the American winger on the touchline just after issuing his instructions to Azpilicueta.
And speaking after the game, Tuchel admitted that Pulisic had told him how to say Azpilucueta’s name.
He told BT Sport: “He did amazing and he told me at half time ‘coach, you have been pronouncing the name Azpi wrong’ so he helped me with that!”
Tuchel still has a good relationship with Pulisic, and Blues fans are hoping he’ll be able to get the best out of the winger.
The young American came through at Dortmund under Tuchel’s management, and will likely be a key part of his plans at Stamford Bridge.
Tuchel continued: “In Christian for sure I know very well what he is capable of.
“He had a big, big input, it was an unfair decision for him today to not start, I told him it was only because I know what he can bring from the bench.
“I am not sure what the others can do but I know he can bring things for us and absolutely change it for us.”
