Thomas Tuchel has decided on Chelsea's next transfer following Fikayo Tomori's exit

Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel has asked the Blues' hierarchy to look into the prospect of signing Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore this summer.

That is according to a report by Spanish newspaper AS, who say Tuchel is a big admirer of the former Middlesbrough man.

Strengthening the right flank of his squad this summer is a top priority for the Chelsea boss, who guided the club to the UEFA Champions League title last month.

The German is understood to want to strengthen three areas of his squad this summer to turn the club back into genuine Premier League title contenders, with a new right-sided defender, a central-midfielder and a striker on his wish list.

The Blues, who will lock horns with Crystal Palace on the opening day of the 2021/22 Premier League campaign, have already identified Inter Milan ace Achraf Hakimi as the ideal candidate to bolster the right wing-back berth and challenge Reece James for the role.

Chelsea are said to have tabled a big-money bid for the Morocco international and are still believed to be locked in negotiations with the Serie A giants about getting a deal over the line. At the same time, however, French giants Paris Saint-Germain are still in the running and are not giving up hope of getting a deal over the line.

With that said, and Tuchel seemingly not prepared to wait forever to get a deal done for the former Real Madrid man, the former Borussia Dortmund boss is keeping his options open, with Wolves ace Traore firmly in his mind.

It is reported in Spain that Tuchel has presented Traore's name to Marina Granovskaia - Chelsea's transfer guru - and has identified him as the ideal alternative to Hakimi if they cannot strike a deal with Inter to get a deal done.

Traore, who is currently with the Spain squad at Euro 2020, is not strictly a defender, but does have the versatility to operate as a wing-back if required.

With Tuchel a big believer of seeing his wing-backs bomb forward and join the attack, Traore could be tailor made with his speed and powerful frame.

Hakimi, meanwhile, is a more natural wing-back, comfortable in a defensive sense and equally as comfortable when drifting into the attacking third.

Traore is under contract at Molineux until the summer of 2023, meaning Chelsea would more than likely have to pay a sizeable transfer fee to lure him to west London.

However, Chelsea have already secured a £25million windfall from Fikayo Tomori's move to AC Milan, meaning that money could be put towards a potential deal for the Spain international.
