Thomas Tuchel has already given his Cristiano Ronaldo assessment amid Manchester Utd transfer

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has already admitted that his life would be ‘harder’ should Cristiano Ronaldo return to the Premier League.

The Portuguese had been linked with a move back to England over the past few days, with Manchester City initially emerging as his most likely suitors should he depart Juventus.

In the end, Ronaldo became a Premier League player once more but it was instead with former club Manchester United, who announced that they had struck a deal to sign the five-time Ballon d’Or winner on Friday evening.

With the move announced, it was the exact situation that Tuchel was bemoaning for his team, but did understand the benefit that the Portuguese’s return would have on the league on the whole.

Talking in a press conference ahead of this weekend's clash with Liverpool, Tuchel said: "I don’t think it’s good if he plays for any of our rivals!

"If he ends up in the Premier League, it’s good for the Premier League and shows how competitive and how difficult this league is.

"At the same time it will make life harder for us."

Judging by Ronaldo’s previous record against the Blues as a Manchester United player, Chelsea have little to fear.

He has played against the Blues on 15 times throughout his career in all competitions, only managing to find the net once. However, that goal was an infamous one as it opened the scoring for the Red Devils in the 2008 Champions League final in Moscow.

Then managed by Sir Alex Ferguson, the Red Devils went on to win the trophy at Chelsea’s expense on penalties - though Ronaldo did miss in the shootout.
