Thomas Tuchel has already discovered his three Chelsea undroppables after Wolves draw

Thomas Tuchel has been told which three Chelsea players will be crucial to his tactical plan.

The new Blues head coach oversaw a goalless draw against Wolves on Wednesday evening in what was his first game in charge after being appointed as Frank Lampard's successor 24 hours earlier.

Despite dominating possession for long spells, Chelsea didn't test Wolves goalkeeper Rui Patricio enough and a share of the points was probably a fair result.

With that said, the hosts did carry more of a threat when Mason Mount and Christian Pulisic - both dropped from the starting XI ahead of kick-off - were introduced to proceedings in the second half.

Whilst they weren't able to unlock a resolute Wolves defence, the aforementioned duo as well as Callum Hudson-Odoi managed to catch the eye of BT Sport pundits Rio Ferdinand and Peter Crouch.

So much so that Ferdinand has suggested that Mount and Pulisic will be required the next game against Burnley and he also heaped praise on Hudson-Odoi.

"He’s gonna have to get out on the training pitch, get his coaching tactical board out and make sure that the guys understand it’s not all about possession," Ferdinand said. "You’re gonna wanna hurt and penetrate teams, we said that at half-time and there wasn’t much more until Pulisic and Mount came on.

"Listen, we can’t judge him on this game.

"It’s the best I’ve seen Hudson-Odoi tonight, he was their most creative player, he was the outlet.

"I think what he would’ve learned that he’s gone for experience today, but Mason Mount and Pulisic are the people that are gonna give him the thrust up the pitch."

This view was backed up by Crouch.

"Wolves came for the draw, they were so defensive. They just weren’t quick enough, moving it through the lines, as Rio said," Crouch added. "I think he’ll quickly realise that Mason Mount has been one of their most creative players this season and I’m sure he’ll quickly get back in the team.

"Hudson-Odoi was a really big plus point tonight."

Ferdinand and Crouch's comments would suggest that Tuchel has discovered his three Chelsea undroppables following the draw against Wolves.

Of the trio, Hudson-Odoi was the only one to start, whilst Mount and Pulisic made quite the impression on the BT Sport pundits with their second half cameos.

Next up for the Blues is another home game against a resurgent Burnley side on Sunday afternoon. Following that, they have the small matter of a London derby away at Tottenham.
