Thomas Tuchel has already delivered his verdict on Edu's £60m dream Arsenal summer transfer

Arsenal continue to be linked with first-team reinforcements now that the summer transfer window is officially open.

As reported by football.london last month, the Gunners want to bring in five new first-team players this summer as a minimum, all of whom would bolster different areas of the squad.

But five could become six depending on if technical director Edu successfully manages to offload at least one centre-forward.

According to a report by The Athletic, Arsenal are prepared to add another name to their shortlist amid talk of launching a move for highly-rated Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak.

In addition, the report states that Isak, who scored 17 goals in 34 La Liga appearances this season, has a €70million (£60.2m) release clause in his deal with the Spanish outfit.

With the Gunners needing to sell players to raise funds, that price-tag could be an issue unless Sociedad are open to negotiating a deal for lower than the release clause.

If Arsenal are able to pull off a deal this summer, manager Mikel Arteta will be getting a player that Edu reportedly rates highly.

And the Brazilian is not alone in thinking that way.

Isak was formerly on the books at Borussia Dortmund where he was managed by current Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel, who has already outlined the 21-year-old's best qualities.

"Alex is a very strong striker, who can play with his back toward goal and is strong in the combination," Tuchel said previously, as per Goal. "He scores a lot of goals, so it is great to have him here.

"He is feeling even better than before after taking part in his first training.

"The signing of Isak makes perfect sense. This gives the club a long-term solution for the position of striker. Isak is a very talented player. We needed someone behind [Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang following Adrian Ramos' departure. It is completely logical for BVB to bring in a youngster for that role."

Interestingly, if Isak was to make the move to Arsenal he would once again be in competition with Aubameyang for the centre-forward role.

Furthermore, he could be the heir to the Gunners captain who will be 32 when the new season starts.
