Chelsea might be set to be handed a small boost amid their hectic fixture schedule in December.
In what is notoriously an extremely busy month for Premier League fixtures anyway, the Blues could potentially be set to play in a further three competitions throughout the festive period.
Depending on their progression in the various competitions, Chelsea are set to navigate Premier League, Carabao Cup and Champions League games, whilst also having the FIFA Club World Cup to contend with.
The competition itself is set to run in December, with the original tournament set to be staged in Japan.
Now, FIFA have announced that the nation have relinquished rights to stage the competition due to a rise in Covid-19 cases in the country.
A statement read: "FIFA can confirm that it has been informed today by the Japan Football Association (JFA) that, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and hosting situation in the country, they are no longer in a position to host the FIFA Club World Cup 2021.
"FIFA would like to thank the JFA for their work and commitment and looks forward to going back to Japan in the future. Further details about an alternative host for the FIFA Club World Cup 2021 will be announced by FIFA in due course."
It remains to be seen quite where the tournament is set to take place but according to ESPN, it could actually be moved to Qatar as a precursor to their hosting of the 2022 World Cup.
Of course, Chelsea would still be required to travel some distance in order to participate and would be expected to navigate the same amount of fixtures, however, the far lower travel time would certainly be a benefit to the Blues.
The distance from London to Tokyo is just under 6,000 miles, meaning that the Blues would rack up some serious air miles during what is one of the most hectic periods of the season.
However, this drops quite considerably when travelling to the Qatari capital of Doha; sitting at just a touch over 3,000 miles - approximately half of the travel time and distance should the Club World Cup have been staged in its original destination.
Tuchel then will certainly be hoping that the competition is indeed moved slightly closer to home.
Chelsea booked their place in the Club World Cup due to their success against Manchester City in the Champions League final in May.

So far, only two other teams have been confirmed as participants - Al Ahly and Auckland City.
The Blues previously finished second in their only entry into the competition, having lost out to Brazilian giants Corinthians in the 2012 edition.
