Thomas Tuchel handed N'Golo Kante and Kai Havertz boost: Chelsea injury news ahead of Brighton

Chelsea can climb above Liverpool this evening in the Premier League table after the Reds slipped up at Leicester City on Tuesday night.

Jurgen Klopp's men had the chance to take the lead in the first-half at the King Power Stadium through a Mohamed Salah penalty, but his spot-kick was saved by Kasper Schmeichel.

The Foxes then took the lead in the second-half through Ademola Lookman and managed to hold on despite an onslaught of Liverpool attacks.

So, Chelsea have the perfect chance to go above Liverpool should they avoid defeat against Brighton today, but Thomas Tuchel has a few problems in his squad.

So, with that being said, football.london rounds up all the latest Chelsea-related injury news ahead of tonight's clash.

N'Golo Kante and Kai Havertz

Kante was one of Chelsea's standout performers on Sunday afternoon as they beat Aston Villa at Villa Park, but the France international was substituted in the second-half.

At the time, Blues supporters thought that may have been Tuchel protecting the midfielder, who has struggled with injuries over the past few months.

However, speaking after the match on Sunday, the Chelsea boss confirmed that Kante was in some pain and that was why he was substituted.

Meanwhile, with Havertz, he has been unwell for a couple of weeks now and has missed the last few games - with his last appearance coming against Leeds United.

The Chelsea duo were pictured in training on Tuesday, though, meaning they could be in contention for tonight's match.

Thiago Silva

Silva was taken off on 52 minutes at Villa Park after suffering a hamstring injury - so it looks set that the Brazil defender will miss the clash with Brighton.

What Tuchel has said: "With Thiago it was his hamstring. Hopefully he got out before it became an injury and from there we try to continue and find a new squad and strong squad on Wednesday."

Expected return date: N/A

Timo Werner

Werner was one of the Chelsea players that tested positive for Covid-19 before their draw with Everton earlier in the month.

There has not been any update on when the Germany forward will return to action, though.

Expected return date: N/A

Ben Chilwell

Chilwell is set to miss the remainder of the season after it was found out that the Chelsea defender will have surgery on his knee injury he suffered last month.

Expected return date: Summer 2022
