Thomas Tuchel growing frustrated as Chelsea takeover impacts results and transfer plans

Thomas Tuchel is growing increasingly frustrated at Chelsea’s disappointing end to the campaign.

Chelsea boss Tuchel has been left genuinely concerned about the club’s place in the top four after managing just one win in their last four Premier League games. It comes amid ongoing uncertainty at the club’s future as the Government applies pressure to complete a sale and takeover by the end of May - but also because Tuchel cannot plan for this summer’s transfer business and he is unable to make big changes during the run-in with players left in limbo.

Romelu Lukaku, the club’s £97.5million record signing, was left on the bench in Sunday’s defeat at Everton and, while the Belgium international does not want to give up after just a year back at the club, he does not know what the future holds. Tuchel is already losing Antonio Rudiger who is joining Real Madrid as a free agent while Andreas Christensen is set to sign for Barcelona when his contract expires this summer.

US tycoon Todd Boehly has been chosen as the preferred bidder by American brokers Raine, who have been charged to oversee the sale after Government sanctions were imposed on Roman Abramovich.

The uncertainty has been bubbling away in the background and Tuchel has already insisted publicly he is definitely staying at Stamford Bridge.

However, there is no doubt that given the takeover and not having any idea on what the future holds in terms of transfers, the team’s form and results have been seriously affected.

Tuchel has worked wonders to keep the club on track, to reach the FA Cup final and also hold onto third place. But Arsenal are now just three points behind and, with game ahead against Wolves, Leeds, Leicester and Watford, they must rediscover some form quickly.
