Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech were not included in Chelsea's team to face Real Madrid because of a "little feeling" Thomas Tuchel had.
The Blues are in their first Champions League semi-final since 2014 as they look to reach their first final since 2012.
However, they're against a very experienced Real Madrid team, who outclassed Liverpool in the quarter-final.
Tuchel's team selection was a major talking point going into the game, with the German coach often very unpredictable when choosing his line-up.
But for the first time since he replaced Frank Lampard in January, Tuchel has gone with the same team for two games in a row.
Ziyech was perhaps a surprise omission from the line-up, whilst Havertz was also left out.
When speaking to BT Sport prior to kick-off, Tuchel explained his decision to leave both players on the bench.
“Yep, we were just happy (with the weekend’s performance) and we had to make tough choices, it was a close one to leave Hakim out because he deserved to play, he was very decisive in the last games," the Blues boss said.
"It was a close one. Kai can always play because he has the quality.
"Little things, sometimes it’s just a feeling, we also have five changes so we need to be strong from the bench as well.
"It seems like Real Madrid have shifted their formation into a 5-3-2, so we do what we do and we do what we did, hopefully at the same level as against West Ham.”
Tuchel also rated his chances of picking up a result over the two legs against the 13-time champions of Europe and thinks a "miracle" is not required.
“I think we don’t need a miracle, or we don’t need an overperformance," he said.
"We just need our top level and then I am sure we can compete with Real for the final.
"Obviously, there is a lot of quality and experience on the other side but we want to play with hunger, enthusiasm and we want to impose our style of play, our intensity, our quality and I trust my team because we can arrive here with a lot of self-confidence because we proved in many different competitions and in many different games that we are capable of playing at a high level and this is what we need today."
