Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has lifted the lid on the reasons behind Hakim Ziyech's omission from the Chelsea squad to face Burnley.
The Morocco international was a surprise absentee for Tuchel's second match in charge of the Blues, not even making the bench.
Questions were immediately asked regarding the decision, with many fans wondering if the summer signing from Ajax had sustained an injury.
However, those fears have been wiped away as Tuchel has confirmed that the decision was down to the fact that Ziyech is in need of a rest.
"Hakim has been in a bit of an overload since five weeks so he has a bit of a risk of getting injured if he plays more than 30 minutes," he told the club website.
"For that, we decided to take a break now to go out of the risk zone. We decided this yesterday (Saturday)."
Ziyech was a starter in midweek for the goalless clash against Wolves, playing 82 minutes in total, and has started three of Chelsea's last four matches.
That followed a five-game absence for Ziyech, who also missed the opening four games of the season due to a knee injury.
He has netted one goal and contributed three assists in the Premier League, with eight starts and three appearances off the bench.
