Thomas Tuchel drops huge Edinson Cavani transfer hint amid talk of Chelsea loan deal

Chelsea have been handed a huge boost in their attempts to sign Edinson Cavani this month.

The Uruguayan striker has been tipped to leave the French champions during the January transfer window, after telling bosses at the Parc des Princes that he wants to leave.

Cavani is in the final few months of his contract in the French capital and has no shortage of suitors, with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester Untied and Tottenham all linked with a move for his services.

PSG are thought to want a fee in the region of £25million for the frontman, although the Blues and United have been looking for a loan deal for the 32-year-old.

Cavani is said to favour a move to Atletico Madrid, but any interested parties have been handed a boost in the chase for the striker's signature.

With less than a week of the January transfer window to go, Cavani's future remains up in the air.

But a transfer could be close, if PSG boss Thomas Tuchel's comments are anything to go by.

The French giants face Lille in Ligue Un on Sunday, but Cavani will not be involved as a result of the speculation around his future.

Tuchel said: "He has been training with us for the past few days, but the situation is not clear for him either. And for that, he will not be available for tomorrow."
