Thomas Tuchel delivers verdict on Kylian Mbappe amid Chelsea transfer links

Thomas Tuchel has described Kylian Mbappe as a 'shark' amid the superstar striker's links with Chelsea.

Mbappe has dominated the headlines in the last week after scoring a hat-trick at Camp Nou to help PSG thrash Barcelona in the Champions League.

And on the back of that brilliant evening in Catalonia for the Frenchman, he has been linked with a move to Chelsea, much due to Tuchel's presence at Stamford Bridge.

The German managed Mbappe at PSG before leaving Paris in December and joining Chelsea as head coach just a month later, replacing Frank Lampard and making quite the start too, unbeaten in his first seven games as Blues boss.

And it's clear Mbappe is still a big fan of Mbappe's, telling BT Sport when asked if the striker will displace Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo at the top of world football: "They will never side aside, never on free will. If he wants to be there, he has to push them aside.

"Scoring the hat-trick at Camp Nou is a message and it's what he demands of himself.

"It's his potential, it's what he has in him. He is still young, he is super hungry and he is a shark in his mentality. "He wants to grab everything he can have.

"So, this is the mentality that you need, and I mean it in the most positive way because he is a super nice and intelligent guy, he is super funny.

"But on the pitch, he is a shark and this is what these guys are like. If you drop one drop of blood in the water, they arrive and this is Kylian.

"If he wants to enter on the level of those guys, because they are years and years, they will not step aside, he has to take it and I think he has what he needs to take it."

Despite Mbappe's links with the Blues, it seems more likely Tuchel will pursue a deal for Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland who, even at more than £100million, will likely be cheaper than Mbappe this summer.
