Thomas Tuchel confirms major Chelsea injury boost ahead of Tottenham clash

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that the Blues are set to be bolstered with the return of N'Golo Kante against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Frenchman has endured a stuttering start to the season thus far with a groin injury. After captaining the Blues to UEFA Super Cup victory against Villarreal, he missed the opening day victory against Crystal Palace before making his return in a short cameo against Arsenal.

Kante then played a further 45 minutes against Liverpool at Anfield but had to be withdrawn at half-time. He was still not quite fit enough to return after the international break having been on the sidelines against both Aston Villa and Zenit St Petersburg.

Despite that, Tuchel has confirmed that the midfielder is fit and raring to go ahead of the trip across the capital this weekend.

Talking in his pre-match press conference, the German said: "N’Golo [Kante] is back. Back in full shape and ready to play."

The return of Kante will certainly be a huge boost to Chelsea as they attempt to navigate a busy calendar over the next few weeks. Following the match with Tottenham, Tuchel's men then face Aston Villa once more in the Carabao Cup before a tough clash with reigning Premier League champions Manchester City.

Juventus are then next on the agenda before a further league game with Brentford ahead of the second international break of the campaign.

One man that the Blues will be without for this weekend's game however is Christian Pulisic. The American suffered an injury whilst on international duty.

The trip to Tottenham will come too soon for the forward but is not far from a return.

"Christian [Pulisic] is in individual training and will not be in the squad," the German continued.
