Thomas Tuchel confirms Kepa Arrizabalaga to start in goal for Chelsea FC in FA Cup Final vs Leicester

Thomas Tuchel has confirmed Kepa Arrizabalaga will start in goal for Chelsea in the FA Cup Final on Saturday.

Kepa started Wednesday’s 1-0 defeat by Arsenal and Tuchel revealed after the game that he plans to start the Spaniard ahead of Edouard Mendy against Leicester at Wembley.

Mendy has replaced Kepa as Chelsea No1 this season and has enjoyed a brilliant season since moving to Stamford Bridge from Rennes.

Kepa, who Chelsea paid £71.6million for in 2018, looked to be on his way out of Chelsea in January but after starting in every previous round of the FA Cup he will now play at Wembley this weekend.

Explaining his decision to start Kepa against Arsenal, Tuchel said: “We thought it was a good idea to give him the game before.

“Because first of all we trust him and he deserves [it]. That is the basis for why we put him in the line-up.

“He deserves it. He is so good in training and we wanted to give him some minutes and take both games together.”
