Thomas Tuchel can learn from Chelsea legend's star partnership to help get best of Romelu Lukaku

The strength of Chelsea runs through the Men’s and Women’s teams. I call them the 'power couple'.

Two forces to be reckoned with. The men hailed as the Champions of Europe whilst the Women are currently the Champions of England.

It’s a glorious feeling being a Chelsea fan right now. It’s funny because, where both teams are showing to have a very promising season, Emma Hayes has something that Thomas Tuchel may need to win the Premier League.

Fran Kirby and Sam Kerr.

Bet you weren’t expecting that were you.

A partnership that we have been craving for the past two seasons has been under our noses all along. Now I know the men's game and women's game are different but we all want to see the best of Lukaku so hear me out.

Emma Hayes is the tactical mastermind behind Chelsea Women’s 4-3-3 formation. The infamous link-up between Fran Kirby, Sam Kerr, and Pernille Harder is enviable and could be a blueprint for Thomas Tuchel to replicate.

Whilst the Women are comfortable with a chop and change in their front three, including the likes of Beth England and Erin Cuthbert, the men are struggling to find that all-important partnership in front of goal.

Between Kirby and Kerr, the pair have scored 15 goals in just 10 matches played so far this season. Quite impressive when you consider the fact that Lukaku, Christian Pulisic, Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Mason Mount, and Kai Havertz have only scored 15 between them in 18 matches.

Just let that sink in.

Thomas Tuchel’s main aim at Chelsea is to create as many chances as possible. As shown in our last Premier League match against Burnley, we are creating several chances, the missing piece is the end product. How do we achieve this goal?

The beauty of Kirby and Kerr’s relationship is their chemistry on the pitch. Whilst both share equal responsibility in front of goal, you often see Kirby on the end of an assist and Kerr getting the ball in the back of the net.

Their chemistry allows them to create space for one another and set each other up. Not to forget Harder who works her magic behind the deadly duo.

With Mason Mount or Kai Havertz behind Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku, we should be experiencing the same level of output and improve in our finishing. Hopefully, Tuchel manages to get the best out of the two forwards in matches to come as they both recover from injury.

At times Lukaku has been a focal point and not getting many touches of the ball. His ability on the ball has come on leaps and bounds since he last played in the Premier League. He is too good to just be used as a target man and a partner alongside him could see the best of him like at Inter with Lautaro Martínez.
