Thomas Tuchel breaks silence on Manchester United speculation

Thomas Tuchel says he 'loves' working at Chelsea and insists his commitment to the club has not waned since Roman Abramovich announced his intention to sell.

Abramovich's 18-year ownership of Chelsea has effectively ended after he was sanctioned by the UK government over his ties to Russian president Vladimir Putin, who has embarked on a bloody war in Ukraine.

The Premier League revoked Abramovich's status as a Chelsea director last week and several prospective buyers are exploring a possible takeover of Chelsea.

Pundit Jamie Carragher wrote in his Daily Telegraph column Manchester United should approach Tuchel as they continue the process to identify their next manager. Tuchel has presided over Champions League and Club World Cup wins, as well as guided them to the final of the FA Cup and League Cup since he was appointed in January 2021.

"No reaction at all. Do you feel me less committed to the club or less involved in the club in my situation?" Tuchel said when asked about the United speculation at his pre-match press conference ahead of Chelsea's FA Cup quarter-final at Middlesbrough. "I think absolutely not, I love to be here and I love to work for Chelsea.

"This club has everything it needs to make me happy and that's why it's no need and we have plenty of reasons to stay in the moment here and that's what we're doing."

United have not ruled out an approach for Tuchel but the chances of prising him from Chelsea are remote. The German is tied to the club until 2024, a prohibitive length on his contract, and Chelsea's next owner is expected to prioritise keeping Tuchel.
