Oigawa Railway Co. Ltd., based in Shimada, Shizuoka Prefecture and known for its use of steam locomotives as tourist trains, has begun this season's "Day out with Thomas 2020" event, featuring a train modeled after the main character of the famous British children's program "Thomas and Friends."

The event, originally planned to kick off on May 16, was postponed due to the novel coronavirus outbreak.

To avoid crowding, the set number of passengers allowed aboard at one time has been halved to accommodate 280 to 300 people. Temperature checks will also be conducted at the ticket gate. The event is scheduled to run for a total of 68 days, until October 19.
