Airdire winger Thomas Robert has seen his trial at Premier League Burnley extended amid interest from Celtic.
The 20-year-old’s move to League One from Montpellier raised eyebrows across the globe as the son of Newcastle and France star Laurent knocked back clubs in Germany, England and a new deal at the Ligue 1 side to rock up in Lanarkshire.
The talented Frenchman was quickly offered a trial at Lennoxtown with the B team, however Record Sport understand talks over a move to the Premiership stalled amid behind the scenes changes.
He returned to see out the remainder of the season at Airdrieonians and helped them to the playoff final while stuck in limbo during the managerial waiting game.
However, the Clarets have now stepped in and taken Robert on trial ahead of the start of third tier campaign.
He was included in the B team squad to face both Rangers B and Ayr on their tour of Scotland, and it is understood a final decision will be made in the coming days.
Robert has not featured in any of the Diamonds' Premier Sports Cup fixtures while south of the border.
