Thomas Partey's season is now over.
Atletico Madrid's exit from the Champions League at the quarter-final stag at the hands of RB Leipzig has brought an interrupted 2019/20 season to a close.
Attention will soon turn to the new campaign, which is a matter of weeks away, but the players will get the chance to have a short break before that.
There will also be plenty of transfer talk around the players before the new season begins in earnest.
For Arsenal, there remains strong interest in midfielder Thomas Partey.
The Ghanaian has been one of Mikel Arteta's top targets this summer for some time now, but Atletico are holding firm on a £43million fee for him, which would mean the Gunners offloading players before they could put a deal in place.
The 27-year-old is thought to be keen on a move to north London, but someone else is less keen - his national team coach.
Ghana boss CK Akonnor told Star FM as reported by CitiSports : "Honestly, I wouldn’t want him to move to Arsenal because with Atletico, he will always play Champions League football. His position is guaranteed and he will always play.
"With Arsenal, I’m not too sure. Arsenal fans will kill me [for saying he should not join the Gunners].
"I hope that, and I’m sure money issues will come in, but I hope that whatever he asks for, Atletico will be able to pay."
