Thomas Partey taunted Man Utd when asked to send message to Arsenal fans

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey asked the club's supporters to "join us in a celebration of United's loss" in bizarre viral video.

Partey made the cheeky dig while speaking to social media star Nana Aba, who boasts 3.3million followers on Instagram and 1.9m followers on Twitter. The video emerged after Manchester United suffered a 2-0 loss at Newcastle on Sunday afternoon.

In the clip, Nana Aba films Partey and says, "Arsenal fans, I am with your super-duper midfielder Thomas Partey." The Ghanaian, who started Arsenal's 4-1 win against Leeds on Saturday afternoon, then replies, "You're welcome, join us in celebration of United's loss."

Partey's good mood is unsurprising considering Arsenal's impressive form. The Gunners are eight points clear of Pep Guardiola's Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table having played a game more, with just a handful of fixtures remaining.

United, meanwhile, have dropped to fifth following their defeat at St James' Park. Erik ten Hag's side will jump up to third if they avoid defeat at home to Brentford on Wednesday night. They are level on points with Newcastle in third and Tottenham in fourth.

Partey may not be as jubilant if Arsenal's title charge collapses. Mikel Arteta's side still have to play Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea and Newcastle before the end of the season, with three of those fixtures taking place away from the Emirates.

Arteta has urged his players to enjoy their title charge. During his post-match press conference on Saturday, the Arsenal boss was asked how his players are shutting out the nerves. He replied, "Just enjoy the moment that we are in.

"We have nine games to go but [on Monday] we have a training session that is going to enable us to be better as a team, and if we go through the journey day by day, when the game comes we are in a state of mind and you are really looking forward to it.

"You have oxygen to grab instead of gasping, and we just want that energy and belief. We go to the next target and we go for it."

Arteta knows how to win the Premier League after helping Man City win back-to-back titles as Guardiola's assistant. He stepped down from that position when he was appointed by Arsenal in December 2019 to replace the sacked Unai Emery. When asked if he enjoys the games, Arteta added, "I do... and now more than before."

If Arsenal are to win the title, they will need Partey to stay fit. Arteta said in March, "You can see he was voted Player of the Month.

"He’s come a long way, he has the consistency of the minutes, he understands what we want much better, his cohesion and understanding with the rest of the players is getting better and better and now it’s about consistency and keep doing it."
