Thomas Partey sent transfer message as Arsenal are told it will cost £35.7m to sign winger

Here is the Arsenal morning digest on Thursday, June 4.

Former Spurs star wants Partey to stay in Spain

Former Spurs striker Freddie Kanoute has said he hopes Arsenal transfer target Thomas Partey stays in La Liga with Atletico Madrid this summer.

"There are a few exciting [African] players in La Liga in my opinion,” he told Goal.

"I really like Thomas [Partey] of Atletico Madrid. He’s a player who is going to keep improving, and there have even been rumours of him leaving to other clubs.

"We hope to keep him in La Liga as long as possible."

Arsenal quoted €40m for winger - report

The Gunners are set to take advantage of cash-strapped Roma by making a move for Dutch winger Justin Kluivert, according to a Teamtalk report.

Roma announced debts of over €250m last month and are currently outside the Champions League spots in fifth.

There’s speculation Arsenal could offer Henrikh Mkhitaryan plus £13m for Kluivert, but given Roma’s situation they are likely to ask for the full €40m (£35.7m).

The Gunners will make up their game in hand with a trip to the Etihad on June 17 when the season is back up and running.

The Telegraph report that the game will kick-off at 8pm, with the match set to be shown on Sky Sports.

Aston Villa will reportedly play Sheffield United two hours earlier, bringing each team up to 29 matches ahead of the full restart on the following weekend. Details of a full broadcasting schedule are set to be announced later this week.
