Thomas Partey is set to hand Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta a massive injury boost ahead of the Premier League clash withLeeds United on Sunday.
The midfielder had emerged as a doubt for the Gunners after limping out of the 1-0 loss at Aston Villa last weekend.
Partey, a £45m signing from Atletico Madrid last summer, has had a stop-start season due to injury issues since arriving at the Emirates Stadium and it appeared disaster had struck yet again at Villa Park.
With Arsenal chasing a goal, the midfielder felt some pain in his thigh before signalling to the bench that he needed to be substituted with 15 minutes to go.
Willian came on to replace the Ghana international with 15 minutes to go and Arteta delivered an update on the midfielder in his post-match press conference.
"I don't know he had a muscular issue so we had to take him off," said Arteta. "He could not carry on playing. We will see the extent of the injury.
"He wasn't feeling well enough to continue playing so we had to take him off."
With that said, the good news for the Gunners boss is that Partey's injury is not serious and the 27-year-old could be back to face Marcelo Bielsa's side.
football.london understands that the injury is not considered serious and the midfielder will spend the next few days recovering ahead of the match at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
Following news of the injury boost, Partey has been active on social media.
Although, as seen in the image below, it hasn't been to discuss a possible return date but rather to issue a rather cryptic message.
"Everything happens for a reason," Partey wrote on Instagram. "That reason causes change. Sometimes it hurts, sometimes it's hard.
"But in the end, it's all for the best."
Although, as pointed out by some Arsenal fans on Reddit, Partey has a habit of posting motivational messages on Instagram.
