Thomas Partey's £45m transfer proves Gary Neville wrong as Thierry Henry issues Arsenal advice

Here is your Arsenal morning digest for Monday 12 October.

Thierry Henry in agreement with Jose Mourinho and Graeme Souness about Nicolas Pepe at Arsenal

Thierry Henry has defended the form of Nicolas Pepe at Arsenal.

The former Lille winger joined Arsenal in a deal worth £72million amid interest from clubs across Europe.

Speaking to Yahoo Sport last year, Henry was quick to defend the winger and urged supporters to afford him more time to adapt.

“When you arrive like that, you’re always going to be talked about, and people are always going to target you,” Henry said.

“He needs to make sure he doesn’t listen to that and go out and perform. People need to forget about the price tag. He didn’t ask to be bought for that amount of money himself.

“It’s not always easy to arrive in a team, adapt to a new style of play. The Premier League, as we know, is not the same as the French League or any other league, by the way. So he needs to adapt to that. We need to give him time.”

Arsenal receive huge fitness boost as Gabriel Martinelli provides update on knee injury

Arsenal have been handed a boost with the news Gabriel Martinelli is closing in on a return.

The Brazilian was initially ruled out until the end of 2020 with a serious knee injury, but he now hopes to make a return to training soon.

“I’m feeling very well, I’m regaining confidence and I can feel my knee is better,” he told the Arsenal website.

“After an injury like this you are kind of scared to force the knee again but the past couple of weeks it has been fine and soon I can start training with the ball.”

Martinelli had scored ten times in all competitions during his first season with the Gunners following his 2019 move from Ituano and Gunners fans will be delighted to see him nearing a return.
