Thomas Partey father makes transfer admission amid Manchester United links

The father of Thomas Partey has dropped a hint that the player could leave Atletico Madrid this summer.

It was confirmed by Partey’s agent last year that the player has a release clause of €50million in his contract at the Spanish club.

Speaking to SilverFM, the player’s father, Jacob Partey, gave a further update on his son’s future.

“My son's current club, Atletico de Madrid, has a termination clause for him. This means that any club that shows interest in signing him must comply with those demands,” he told Cadena COPE .

"Then, any team that meets Atletico's demand will be able to sign my son, and not specifically Arsenal.

"I always call my son, and he is of legal age to decide on a change. I am ready to support his decision."

The agency that represents Partey apologised last month after asking fans to vote for his next club on Instagram.

JJ Sport shared a graphic created by Transfermarkt which carried a picture of Partey alongside the words 'pick his club' and the crests of United, Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain.

A statement said: "In view of the publication that was made today Wednesday 29 April 2020 on our Instagram account, regarding the future of our player Thomas Partey, from JJ Sport Managers we want to convey that this publication was not approved by the company management.

"An internal investigation has been opened to find out what exactly happened, we are sure that this has not been intentional on the part of any of our workers and it is probably an unfortunate mistake.

"The publication has been deleted as soon as we have become aware of its existence.

"In addition, the keys of all our social profiles have been modified to restrict access only to essential personnel."
