Thomas Partey drops major hint over Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal line-up vs Newcastle United

Thomas Partey has dropped a major hint that he could be set to start for Arsenal in their Premier League clash with Newcastle.

The Gunners host the Magpies at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon keen to get back to winning ways after their 4-0 humbling at the hands of Liverpool last weekend.

They will of course be confident in doing that having racked up a particularly impressive record against Newcastle in league play over recent seasons, whilst they will also be especially optimistic of getting a good result with some of the club’s better players available.

One of those who can be called upon is Thomas Partey, who has been struggling with consistent fitness issues since his arrival from Atletico Madrid last summer.

He has so far missed four Premier League games throughout the current season but did start in the defeat to Liverpool last time out.

The midfielder could be in line for another start if his social media activity is anything to go by.

Ahead of kick-off Partey posted a particularly striking pre-match graphic to his Instagram story, potentially hinting that he was in line to start the game against the Magpies.

Should he do that, it would be the 28-year-old’s tenth appearance of the season in all competitions.

He made just 33 outings throughout the whole of the last campaign for Arsenal, having missed 16 games in all through various injuries.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has previously praised the capabilities of the midfielder, when he is of course available for selection.

Talking in September, the Spaniard said: “He’s the anchor. He’s the one who reads what is happening and makes the rest better. How he manages the transition, his pressing, he has a charisma.”

Arsenal take on Newcastle on Saturday with the potential to cut the gap between themselves and fourth-placed West Ham - the Gunners currently sitting three points behind David Moyes’ men.
