Thomas Partey drops Instagram hint over Mikel Arteta's Arsenal team selection vs Man United

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has overcome an injury scare to be available for the visit of Manchester United.

The £45m summer signing from Atletico Madrid emerged as a doubt for the big game at the Emirates Stadium after failing to finish the 3-1 win over Southampton on Tuesday night.

On just his second Premier League start following a long injury layoff, Partey lasted 78 minutes at St Mary's before being replaced by Mohamed Elneny.

And speaking ahead of the Man United clash, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta wasn't giving too much away in regards to the midfielder - as well as Emile Smith Rowe's - chances of recovering in time.

"I don’t know let’s see how they come today," Arteta told reporters. "They have some discomfort in different parts Thomas and Emile.

"We will have to see how they evolve. We still have some days until the game, but not long so let’s see how they recover."

However, a few hours before kick-off in north London came the news that will have delighted Arteta and Arsenal supporters around the world.

As confirmed by Arsenal.com, Partey and Smith Rowe are in contention to start.

"Thomas has been in full training since Tuesday’s match at Southampton and is available for selection," a statement reads.

Taking to Instagram, the 27-year-old has done his best to hype up the big game in north London which all but confirms his place in Mikel Arteta's matchday squad.

Interestingly, Partey has done this whenever he has been named in a matchday squad this season.

Furthermore, this is a ploy that Willian, Nicolas Pepe, and Gabriel Magalhaes have used whenever they've been included in an Arsenal matchday squad this season.

However, it should be noted that Partey has also done this in the past for games that he's ended up missing.

The most recent examples were the Boxing Day win over Chelsea as well as the FA Cup third-round win over Newcastle United.

But all signs are pointing towards the Ghana international keeping his place in the Arsenal starting lineup as they go in search of recording a Premier League double over the Red Devils this season.
