Thomas Muller makes bizarre Newcastle claim when quizzed on his Bayern Munich future

Bayern Munich superstar Thomas Muller has made a bizarre reference to Newcastle when quizzed upon his future.

The World Cup winner has spent his entire career to date with the German giants, and the 31-year-old admits he has a 'special relationship' with the club.

However, Muller refused to rule out a move elsewhere in an interview with the Times, and admits he is a fan of English football.

The forward said: "I’m not fixed to this club.

"I have a special relationship, I love Bayern before I started playing for them, but when there is a situation where you have to decide maybe to play for a different club it would be no shame and no problem at all.

"Maybe like with Thiago [Alcântara, now at Liverpool]."

Muller then went on to suggest he could struggle with the culture and "special dialect" of living in England, and the North East in particular.

He added: "I like it. But some cultures . . . speaking and such, special dialect, I don’t understand everything.

"Newcastle? Ah, I don’t know . . .”
