Thomas Muller admits he could follow Thiago Alcantara after Liverpool transfer

Thomas Muller has hinted he could follow in Thiago Alcantara's footsteps and call time on his own Bayern Munich career.

With his contract in Germany set to expire this year, the Spaniard moved to Liverpool in a £25m deal last summer after winning the Champions League with the Bavarian giants.

The 29-year-old has admittedly not enjoyed the maiden campaign on Merseyside that he would have envisaged, with the Reds' Premier League title defence collapsing as Jurgen Klopp 's side struggled to contend with a season-long injury crisis.

But that has not stopped Muller from suggesting he might following his former team-mate's example and leave Bayern himself.

"I’m not fixed to this club. I have a special relationship, I love Bayern before I started playing for them, he told The Times. "But when there is a situation where you have to decide maybe to play for a different club, it would be no shame and no problem at all.

"Maybe like with Thiago (Alcantara at Liverpool )."

Muller has enjoyed a long, successful career with Bayern Munich, winning the Bundesliga nine times and the Champions League on two occasions.

Meanwhile, he is not the first Bayern start to consider following Thiago out the exit door with David Alaba set to leave the club this summer at end of his contract.
