Thomas Markle swears on GMB as Meghan's dad deems Royal Family 'racist' comment row as bulls***

Good Morning Britain host Susanna Reid had to apologise after Thomas Markle deemed the Royal Family 'racist' comment row "bulls***."

The morning after his daughter Meghan and husband Prince Harry's much hyped interview with Oprah Winfrey aired in the UK, Thomas appeared from his home in Rosarito, Mexico to speak to Susanna and her GMB co-host Piers Morgan, after he had stormed off set.

One of the biggest revelations from the Oprah interview that has shocked people across the world is Meghan's claim that an unnamed member of the Royal Family had concerns and conversations about baby Archie on " how dark his skin might be when he’s born”.

After Thomas declared that the fact that he no longer speaks to the couple was "a decision those guys made," Susanna responded: "It's not the union that has caused the rift.

"It is how they feel they have been treated, what's been said about them, what people around them have done. How they feel they've been let down and unsupported.

"Stories that people have told the press which they feel are untrue."

She continued: "This is your daughter and her husband. She made a series of allegations that must be taken extremely seriously and also the fact that she feels you let her down as well."

Thomas replied: "I feel like she let me down. I was in a hospital bed the last time we talked. She didn't care if I died. I had a procedure where a stent was put in here and here (gesturing to his chest) and they haven't spoken to me since.

"When my father was in hospital me and my three brothers showed up the next day. That's what families do."

Making the comment that landed him in hot water, he added: "The whole thing about the colour and how dark the baby is is bulls***."

After Thomas paused, Susanna interrupted: "Firstly we need to apologise for your bad language," as Thomas, who also said he didn't believe the Royal Family were racist, continued: "I married a black woman and had a beautiful child.

"If she had turned out dark it wouldn't have been a problem. If she turned out anything in between, it wouldn't have been a problem. It's a beautiful baby."

Susanna told Thomas, who revealed what he'd say to Meghan and Harry now,: "One of the things that has been expressed over and over on this programme and more broadly is that when someone feels they have heard a racist comment, that has to be taken seriously.

"It's not what you described it as; it's something that needs to be heard, understood and perhaps investigated."
