Thomas Markle lashes out at Harry and Meghan - "It's never going to work"

Meghan Markle’s father Thomas Markle has lashed out at his daughter and son-in-law to claim that their move to step down as senior royals will ‘never work’.

The 75-year-old appeared on Good Morning Britain to give his first TV interview since Harry and Meghan announced their plans to spend half of their time in Canada and become ‘financially independent’.

Speaking to Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid, he said: “I think when they got married, they married into royalty and they knew what they were getting themselves into. That’s been Harry’s life. Meghan’s had a similar kind of life.

“I think they’ve hurt the Queen, I think they’ve hurt the royals.

“It just doesn’t work to be going to another country and serving England, it’s never going to work.

“I’m a little embarrassed for them, and feeling very sorry for the Queen. I have great respect and admiration for the Queen.

Markle also admitted that his health was ‘mixed’, saying: “I suffer a lot of stress because of everything that’s going on all the time. Every day, it’s a new thing that’s happening. Every time that happens, the press shows up at my door. That’s very stressful.

“I’m still very disappointed with what’s happening.

“Of course, I love my daughter, I certainly would love my grandson, and I’d love Harry if I met him I’m sure.

“This decision to make the break from the royals is very confusing. I don’t think anyone understands or can figure out how or why this happened.”

The 75-year-old also revealed in a new documentary that he doesn’t believe he will see his daughter again until his funeral.

He said: “The last time they might see me is being lowered into the ground.

“I don't think at this point they are thrilled to see me or want to talk to me."
