Thomas Kithier breaks nose, will play against Kentucky

Is there something in the water in East Lansing?

As if last year’s spate of injuries wasn’t enough, the Michigan State men’s basketball team has been hit with another injury to a key player.

Starting power forward Thomas Kithier took an inadvertent elbow in practice which broke his nose.

Michigan State confirmed Torres’ report and said the injury is considered minor. Kithier will be a full participant in practice and is good to go for the season opener against Kentucky on November 5.

Michigan State will be without starting shooting guard Josh Langford after he re-aggravated the foot injury that kept him out of much of last season. Kyle Ahrens, who has also started games for MSU, is also dealing with a sprained ankle and freshman Rocket Watts was limited with a sore Achilles, but did suit up in MSU’s exhibition game against Albion.

Let’s hope nothing else pops up before the season can even get going. Just as a precaution MSU should wrap Cassius Winston up in some bubble wrap and tape pillows to Xavier Tillman’s limbs.
