Reform MSP Thomas Kerr's company struck off after failing to file accounts

THE PR firm owned by Reform UK’s Scottish deputy leader Thomas Kerr has been struck off and dissolved after apparently failing to file its accounts.

Kerr, who was elected as a Glasgow list MSP earlier this month and is a prominent figure in Reform UK’s operations in Scotland, was listed on Companies House as a director of JSK23 Consultancy, which was incorporated in April 2024.

Registered at an address in Glasgow city centre, it is listed as engaging in “public relations and communications activities”.

Companies House records show that JSK23 lodged an initial confirmation statement covering the period up to April 2025, but there is no sign that it has subsequently filed any annual accounts.

On March 10 this year, a First Gazette notice was published signalling an “active proposal to strike off” the firm from the register. But no successful objection was lodged and the compulsory strike‑off was finalised on May 19, with the firm then dissolved on May 26.

A Reform UK spokesperson told The National that there was “no intention to avoid filing obligations” and that the company “never generated sufficient income” for corporation tax to become relevant.

Under UK company law, failing to file company accounts is technically a criminal offence. But prosecution is very rare and it is more likely to have your company simply struck off and dissolved instead.

More than 630,000 companies were involuntarily struck off and dissolved by the registrar in the 2023-24 financial year.

"Thomas Kerr acted on the advice of his accountant throughout the short lifespan of JSK23 Consultancy Limited,” the spokesperson said.

“The company never generated sufficient income for corporation tax to become relevant, and there was no intention to avoid any filing obligations.”

They added: “As the business was essentially dormant, the company was allowed to be dissolved through the standard Companies House process. Not winding up formally is an administrative oversight, for which there are no tax consequences."

Scottish Greens MSP Patrick Harvie, meanwhile, said: “It says a lot about Reform that one of their most senior figures in Scotland has had his company struck off after failing to comply with company rules. Voters are entitled to ask how someone who can’t be trusted in their own business dealings expects to be trusted in public office."

He added: “People are struggling to pay their bills and keep their genuine small businesses afloat, so they’ll expect politicians to meet the same basic standards that they adhere to.

“Mr Kerr is about to find out that being in Parliament means accepting accountability and standards, and it seems those principles are going to be a new experience for him.”
