Thomas Henry slipping through Celtic net as his club grow impatient with transfer 'lingering' and Gent deal agreed

A report has claimed Celtic are set to miss out on Thomas Henry as the striker moves to Gent instead.

OH Leuven frontman Henry, 26, emerged as a Hoops target earlier this month and was earmarked as a replacement for Odsonne Edouard if he seals a long-awaited move.

Brighton and a number of other Premier League clubs are interested but so far appear unwilling to meet the Parkhead asking price of up to £20m.

That has allowed another Belgian side to swoop in as Gent look to replace Ukraine's Euro 2020 hero Roman Yaremchuk – and are armed with significant cash reserves after his sale.

The Daily Record insist Ange Postecoglou had Henry lined up as Edouard's successor but with his exit taking some time OHL have had enough.

The club have grown impatient with Celtic for "lingering without making a concrete offer".

Only a dramatic late counter capable of blowing Gent's £4.5m offer out of the water can save the deal now.

It's claimed a move to the Belgian title hopefuls, who also sold Jonathan David to Lille last summer for a blockbuster £25m, is "95 per cent complete".
