Thomas Henry gives Celtic transfer hope as he roars 'I have no time to waste' amid OHL manager's exit admission

OH Leuven striker Thomas Henry admitted last month he fancies a new adventure before being revealed as a Celtic target this week.

And even his boss at the Belgian club is trying to make peace with the idea the number nine could be about to leave.

Ange Postecoglou is interested in a move for the 26-year-old who has a clinical scoring record in the Pro League.

Other sides across the continent are interested but Celtic will hope to steal a march on them - especially if Odsonne Edouard is to leave the club - and Henry is ready for another step up.

He said: "I didn't expect to score 21 goals last season - no one expected me to score that amount. But we had a great season where we beat the likes of Anderlecht, Brugge and Standard Liege.

"I was top scorer in the second division and I had a lot of doubters because they said it was a lesser standard. So it was important for me to prove them wrong.

"I learned quickly in the top league and I was proud to do my best in helping OHL have a great season.

"I've worked hard in recent years and I think I have really progressed as a player. I only became a No.9 since I arrived here from Tubize two years ago and I think I have grown into the role.

"My goal is to improve and I want to take a new step. I feel capable of it. I want to become even better and my ambition is to play at as high a level as possible.

"The club knows that and we will see the opportunities that are presented to me this summer. I don't set myself any limits or barriers. It could be England, Spain, Italy or Germany.

"I hope to discover other countries' ways of playing football and their lifestyle.

"I am 26 years old, I have no more time to waste. I have room for improvement and I think I can go higher, do better. I have ambitions, we will see what will happen."

And OHL manager Marc Brys admitted the club wouldn't stand in his way if a reasonable offer arrived.

He said: "I hope no offer comes in for him, but the chances of that happening are low.

"He is 26 years old and hopes to take a big step forward in his career and that is normal.

"Thomas is ready for this, he absolutely deserves it. He is a very ambitious person. But if and when he leaves, it will be a huge loss for us."
