RALEIGH, N.C. _ Thomas Greiss stifled the Hurricanes again.
The goalie made 38 saves in the Islanders' 2-1 win at PNC Arena for his second victory the building this young season.
Greiss also made 45 saves in the Islanders' season-opening 2-1 overtime win at Carolina on Oct. 4.
The Islanders (5-4-1), who conclude their three-game road trip on Tuesday night at Pittsburgh, have won consecutive games for the first time this season after beating the Flyers, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon.
Petr Mrazek stopped 18 shots for the Hurricanes (6-4-1), who had their two-game winning streak snapped.
The Hurricanes' penalty kill is ranked last in the NHL and the Islanders took a 1-0 lead at 3:39 of the first period on Anders Lee's power-play goal off Josh Bailey's feed to the low slot just nine seconds after Jordan Staal hooked Johnny Boychuk. But Teuvo Teravainen tied it off the rush at 1:16 of the second period.
Defenseman Ryan Pulock, with his first goal of the season, regained a 2-1 lead for the Islanders at 14:35 of the second period, spinning in the slot and slapping it past Mrazek's glove.
