Thomas Frank's telling verdict of Swansea City and the threat Brentford couldn't handle

Thomas Frank says Brentford struggle to cope with the interchangeability of Swansea City's front three in the draw between the two sides this week.

The visitors created numerous chances at the Brentford Community Stadium but had to settle for a point after Andre Ayew cancelled out Ivan Toney's opener.

And Brentford boss Frank was quick to praise Steve Cooper's men following their efforts in west London after extending their unbeaten run to five matches by coming from behind to claim a draw.

"I think we played against a very good team," said the 47-year-old.

"I think it was a good and interesting game between two good teams that want to dominate and take control on the game.

"Both teams had their spells in the game where they were on top.

"Swansea I think they are a good side. There is a reason why they are second in the league at this moment in time, there is a reason why they came into the play-offs last season.

"So we knew it would be a difficult battle. I think, their structure, they played that very well, in terms of the front three being very flexible and finding pockets in between our centre-backs and full-backs. I don't think, in that aspect, we were good enough."

David Raya made stunning saves to deny both Kyle Naughton and Ayew in the first half while he also made a decent stop to keep out an effort from Jamal Lowe after the restart.

But Swansea remain in second place in the table after 10 games having claimed 19 of the 30 points on offer ahead of their trip to Norwich City this weekend.

Despite registering just one shot on target against the Swans, Frank believes a draw was a fair result.

"I think 1-1 was a fair result overall," he added.

"I think, first half was very even, and I think we had opportunities and chances as well. Second half I don't think we had a particularly high level. To be fair, I don't think Swansea did either, things were very much back and forth.

"But both teams tried to go for the win which I like."
