Thomas Frank makes big decision from Arsenal defeat as Brentford face Newcastle challenge

Brentford have made a number of changes from last weekend's defeat against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, as they face an enormous challenge in front of them against Eddie Howe's Newcastle United this afternoon.

It appears Brentford have gone four at the back, with Kristoffer Ajer operating at right-back with Rico Henry on the opposite flank.

Mathias Jensen has recovered from the injury that forced the Dane to go off at Arsenal last weekend, but he has recovered and plays in a midfield quartet along with Christian Norgaard, Vitaly Janelt and Josh Dasilva.

Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa spearhead the attack as they look to breach a Newcastle defence that has only conceded three league goals in 2022.

Ivan Toney has returned to the matchday squad following a calf injury, but he has not been risked for selection against his former club.

Christian Eriksen is also on the substitutes bench, and will hope to come on as the game goes on.

Brentford XI: Raya; Ajer, Jansson, Pinnock, Henry; Dasilva, Norgaard, Jensen, Janelt; Mbeumo, Wissa.

Subs: Fernandez, Canos, Ghoddos, Onyeka, Toney, Eriksen, Zanka, Baptiste, Roerslev.
