Thomas Frank drops Brentford transfer hint as club set to sanction exits

Thomas Frank has refused to rule out a late dip into the transfer market and revealed several players could be offloaded before the window slams shut next week.

Brentford have so far brought in five new players this summer, with goalkeeper Alvaro Fernandez the latest arrival through the door at the Community Stadium.

The Spaniard arrived last week on loan from SD Huesca and made his debut in Tuesday night's win over Forest Green Rovers.

He follows Frank Onyeka, Kristoffer Ajer, Yoane Wissa and Myles Peart-Harris to west London, and Frank has hinted there could be more on their way, with Nottingham Forest's Brennan Johnson among the names on their radar.

"I have a squad that I'm pleased with but we are always in the market," said the Bees boss. "The window is still open, so anything can happen."

Luke Daniels, Henrik Dalsgaard and Emiliano Marcondes left the club this summer after their contracts expired.

Joel Valencia hasn't been issued a squad number and appears to be on his way after spending last campaign on loan at Legia Warsaw.

Tarique Fosu didn't even make the bench against Forest Green, and Frank admits more players could be heading for the exit in the next week.

He added: "Joel and maybe some others will maybe go on loan. Let's see."

One player who will be staying put for the time being is Julian Jeanvier as he continues to recover from injury.

The defender, 29, spent last season on loan with Kasimpasa in Turkey but had his spell cut short through injury.

Brentford have enjoyed an unbeaten start to the season and return to action against Aston Villa on Saturday.
