Thomas Frank: Brentford manager rubbishes Tottenham rumours after London derby defeat

Thomas Frank has confirmed he is fully committed to Brentford amid reports he could replace Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham.

Brentford have enjoyed their most successful years under the Dane, who joined as an assistant in 2016 and helped them earn promotion to the Premier League shortly after being promoted to head coach.

The Bees are in with a slim chance of qualifying for European competition next season, though those hopes took a knock as they gave up a two-goal lead to lose to Fulham on Sunday.

Frank has been perennially linked with Premier League managerial vacancies for years, with reports claiming he has been earmarked as first choice to take over from Postecoglou should Tottenham choose to relieve him of his duties come the end of the season.

Spurs have endured a torrid domestic season, sinking to 17th in the Premier League, and rumours have swirled that the Australian will be removed from his post at the end of the season despite reaching the Europa League final.

Frank, though, has confirmed he is as focused as ever with Brentford.

He said: “Right now, of course, I am committed. I just lost to Fulham, our local rivals, so [I am] fuming in every aspect.

“So yes, I am committed like I have always been.”

Should he stay at Brentford, Frank may embark on his next campaign without a key player in Bryan Mbuemo. He revealed in April that Brentford are anticipating offers for the striker in the summer transfer window as he has scored 19 Premier League goals this campaign.

He said: “If the right price — and that’s going to be expensive — is coming, then I’m sure the club will be open to [selling Mbeumo].

“But I’m very happy he is here, and I’m convinced that Bryan will still be happy playing football here.”
