Thomas Davis contract: Details on his new 2-year deal with the Chargers

The Thomas Davis era is now officially over for the Panthers. Earlier today, the former Carolina linebacker announced that he is signing with the LA Chargers. We now have some more details about that deal.

According to a report by Tom Pelissero at NFL Network, Davis is signing a two-year deal with Los Angeles worth up to $10.5 million. It includes $5.25 million guaranteed this year and a $1 million roster bonus next March. The Panthers will play the Chargers in 2020, so if he’s still around then that should make for an interesting reunion game.

Davis is joining an absolutely loaded defense that ranked No. 8 in scoring defense as well as No. 8 in DVOA last season.

As long as their 37-year old QB Philip Rivers continues to play at an elite level, the Chargers should have a legitimate window to make the Super Bowl. Their most obvious obstacles in the AFC will be the New England Patriots, who blasted them out of the divisional round, and the Kansas City Chiefs, who will be adding the talented Tyrann Mathieu.
