Thomas Davis caught a shoe at the Hornets vs. Warriors game

Thomas Davis has top-notch ball skills for a linebacker. In his 176-game career with the Panthers, he reeled in 13 interceptions and broke up 52 passes. Davis showcased those soft hands again during Monday night’s NBA game between the Charlotte Hornets and the visiting Golden State Warriors, led by hometown hero (and Panthers fan) Steph Curry.

At one point, Warriors center and Steve Kerr’s fifth infinity stone DeMarcus Cousins tossed Jeremy Lamb’s shoe off the court after it came off. Cousins was whistled for a technical foul even though he appeared to be just trying to clear the obstacle from the court. Watch.

It’s impossible to see from that footage, but apparently the shoe was caught by Davis, who was sitting in the front row, according to a report by Scott Fowler at the Charlotte Observer. Despite a bad shooting night from Curry (he made just five of 18 field goals) Golden State went on to win 121-110.

As for Davis, he’s been told he will not be returning to the Panthers in 2019. He will become a free agent in a couple of weeks and intends to keep playing.
