Thousands of people with Thomas Cook travel money cards are being warned to cash in their funds now before their accounts close for good in April.
Mastercard, which still runs them on behalf of the collapsed travel agent, said its axing the cards this Spring - so if you've got one, now is the time to act.
Thomas Cook's entire range of prepaid currency cards will be closing in April - this includes the Lyk card, Thomas Cook's Multi-Currency Cash Passport, Thomas Cook's Single Currency Cash Passport and the Co-operative Travel Cash Passport.
Despite having Thomas Cook branding on them, these cards were all run by Mastercard and issued by a company called Wirecard - which meant they continued to trade after the company went bust.
However, Mastercard has now confirmed that the cards will be closing on 6 April 2020 - when they'll cease to operate.
To withdraw money after this date, you will have to contact the card issuer - so the sooner you act the better.
The currency will be returned to you in pounds - based on the Thomas Cook exchange rate on the day you cash it.
You can withdraw your funds through your online account for your Lyk card, Thomas Cook Multi-Currency Cash Passport, Thomas Cook Single Currency Cash Passport, the Co-operative Travel Cash Passport, or by calling Mastercard's card services on 0800 023 2098.
Once your withdrawal has been approved, you'll receive your funds into your bank account within three to five working days.
In an email being sent to customers, Mastercard explains: "We have reviewed the level of support we can continue to offer you as a cardholder and have made the hard decision to discontinue your currency card.
"You should aim to have spent all funds on your card before 6 April 2020 as any remaining balance will be subject to the monthly inactivity fee set out in the card terms and conditions."
