Thomas Cook rivals place job adverts only for staff left unemployed by collapse

Yesterday some 21,000 people lost their jobs after the UK's oldest travel company went bust.

But while it's understandable if people want to take some time to process what just happened, there is a tiny amount of good news for hard-working former employees.

As things stand, Mirror Money has seen at least three rivals queueing up to offer ex-employees of Thomas Cook a job.

Virgin Atlantic said it's offering jobs: "To support any Thomas Cook Cabin Crew after the sad announcement that the company has ceased operations."

"This opening is for current Thomas Cook Cabin Crew or Thomas Cook employees with previous flying experience only," the job ad reads.

But they're not the only people looking to offer a hand to former staff of Thomas Cook.

Staff at Thomas Cook's biggest rival Tui are also offering a helping hand.

"We are sorry to learn of the  Thomas Cook UK  news. We really feel for everyone affected by this announcement - customers on holiday, anyone due to travel with them and of course their employees,"the Tui Jobs Facebook page reads.

And so they're going to help.

"We will be holding a recruitment fair at our Luton Office for people who are impacted."

Worried staff were told to head to www.tuijobsuk.co.uk  to see what's available at the firm.

But it wasn't just the big players that were reaching out to former Thomas Cook workers.

Travel House Wales also wanted to help.

"Following on from the sad news of Thomas Cook going into administration, we will be holding an open day exclusively for Thomas Cook Staff on Thursday 26th September 2019," the firm said .

"We have various vacancies throughout our retail network covering West Wales to Bristol. We also have homeworking opportunities available."

The open day will be held between 9:30am and 5pm at our Head Office in The Post House, Adelaide Street, Swansea.

"You are welcome to just pop in and discuss your options on the day, or you can email jan@travelhouse.co.uk to request a specific appointment slot," the company said in a Facebook post.
