The "UK’s largest ever peacetime repatriation" is under way today following the collapse of tour operator Thomas Cook - which has left more than 150,000 British holidaymakers stranded abroad.
The Civil Aviation Authority said it had dozens of aircraft ready to fly stranded holidaymakers home. The process will cost £100m, according to Transport Secretary Grant Shapps.
It came as the Government announced a "fast-track" inquiry into the conduct of bosses who oversaw the company's collapse.
Meanwhile, chief executive Peter Fankhauser apologised to "millions of customers and thousands of employees" and called it a "matter of profound regret".
