Hurdler Thomas Barr was among three more athletes to book their tickets to Tokyo yesterday ahead of this summer's Olympic Games.
The 28-year-old ran his fastest time since 2018 in the 400m hurdles, recording a time of 48.39 at the Paavo Nurmi Games in Finland, to secure his place at the games.
"Normally I'm still only warming up at this time of year," Barr said.
"Considering how compressed this season was, I didn’t have much room for error so I’m back on the horse just in time.
"Since Rio the 400m hurdles has gotten a lot harder, but in an Olympic final, or in any major championship final, anything can happen, so if I’m there or thereabouts, I’ll be ready to mop up the spillage."
Meanwhile, 2016 Rio Olympian Michelle Finn is also on her way to Tokyo after the steeplechaser took nine seconds off her personal best to qualify.
The 31-year-old put in a time of 9:29:25 in the 3000m race, the second fastest time ever by an Irish runner.
Elsewhere, Emmet Brennan has become the seventh Irish boxer to seal an Olympics spot at the European qualifiers in Paris.
It's been a successful week for Team Ireland, with Brendan Irvine, Kurt Walker, Aoife O'Rourke, Kellie Harrington, Aidan Walsh and Michaela Walsh all having qualified.
The 30-year-old lost his quarter-final bout against Croatian Luka Plantic on Sunday, but joined his teammates after edging a winner-takes-all box-off against Liridon Nuha of Sweden.
Harrington and Michaela Walsh are through to finals and will box for gold today, while O'Rourke and Aidan Walsh lost their semi-finals.
