This year's top earning dead celebrities - from Prince to new entry Nipsey Hussle

Record sales may be in decline, but some of the world’s most iconic singers and celebrities are continuing to cash in on their fame – even after their death.

Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley have both generated more than £30million each from the grave in the past year – more than some of today’s a-listers are earning right now.

That's according to the latest Forbes rich list, which has outlined the wealthiest celebrities who are no more – with American rapper Nipsey Hussle in the list for the first time, ever.

After being shot during a marathon, things kept going for Nipsey.

The rapper has earned £8million in the past 12 months, a bigger annual haul than in any year he was alive.

"In the physical world, it would die down to the point where that stuff just wasn't carried anymore,” David Bakula, at Forbes said.

"That barrier's been removed, and it's just simply as long as you're still thinking about that artist, you're still going to go in and play it with really no friction at all."
