This weekend's Linfield vs Dungannon Swifts game called off

Saturday's Danske Bank Premiership game between Linfield and Dungannon Swifts has been postponed because of Covid-19.

It has been confirmed that the fixture is off in line with the NI Football League’s Covid Case Policy.

At present the other five remaining games in the top flight will proceed as normal this weekend.

In a statement, the NI Football League said: "The NI Football League can advise supporters of the postponement of one Danske Bank Premiership match this weekend.

"Linfield v Dungannon Swifts scheduled for Saturday 30 January is now off.

"The postponement has been requested and confirmed in line with the NI Football League's Covid Case Policy.

"All other Danske Bank Premiership matches will go ahead as scheduled."

The Premiership recently returned from a two-week circuit breaker after concerns about playing amid the threat of Covid-19 were raised by players, officials and referees.

The NI Football League and Irish FA then introduced an initial four-week roll-out of testing which started last week.

NIFL's Covid Case Policy states that matches will be played unless one of the teams involved is not in position to field a team of 13 players, including one goalkeeper, from their squad on the Irish FA's Comet registration system.

LInfield currently lead the Premiership by four points.
