Ballet Cymru’s Cinderella, Hereford
This small-scale Welsh company has a fine track record in its reinventions of classic work, and this new version of Cinderella promises to live up to that standard. Choreographers Darius James and Amy Doughty combine forces with the circus company Citrus Arts to fuse classical ballet with aerial dance and flight stunts, giving extra magic to the Grimms fairytale. Its specially commissioned score is by Newport composer Jack White, combining traditional dance elements and innovative atmospheric sound effects.

Paco Peña Flamenco Dance Company: Flamencura, London
Paco Peña is not only an acclaimed guitarist and composer, but in his mission to expand the theatrical possibilities of flamenco, he’s had a similarly distinguished career as a producer. In his latest show, Flamencura, he returns to the core of the art form, celebrating the pure spirit of duende, the state of mind and body in which performers are transported to a state of near mystic communion with their material. The choreography by Fernando Romero ranges from Spanish folk dance to cutting-edge contemporary flamenco, and its three dancers are led by Angel Múñoz.
