Scottish Ballet: Cinderella, Edinburgh
Christopher Hampson choreographed Cinderella for the Royal New Zealand Ballet in 2007; now his work gets its first European showing in this Scottish Ballet staging. Hampson uses the Prokofiev score and he’s taken a correspondingly traditional approach to the tale, sticking closely to the story of the heroine tormented by her wicked stepmother. Hampson is, however, a choreographer with a reputation for stamping his image on familiar material, and the production comes with a stylish fantasy world created by designer Tracy Grant Lord.
Edinburgh Festival Theatre, Sat to 31 Dec; touring to 30 Jan
