Still House: Of Riders And Running Horses, Birmingham
This latest production from choreographer Dan Canham and Still House is created for surprising city spaces, the rooftop of a car park, for instance, or a street, depending on the places to which it tours. The show features six female dancers – accompanied by musicians Sam Halmarack and Luke Harney – who reinvent the idea of folk dancing for the urban 21st century, using a fusion of house dance, free step and jumpstyle. Creating their own communal rhythms and ritual ceremonies, they tap into the infectious exhilaration that comes from dancing outdoors and in unison.

Cas Public: Symphonie Dramatique; Royal Ballet: Romeo & Juliet, London
It is 50 years since Kenneth MacMillan choreographed his version of Romeo & Juliet and in that time it has become a classic. To celebrate its anniversary, the Royal will be reviving the ballet with an exceptional number of different casts (Royal Opera House, WC2, Sat to 2 Dec). Meanwhile, at the Opera House’s Linbury Studio, the Québécois dance company Cas Public is performing its own contemporary dance adaptation of Romeo & Juliet (Linbury Studio, WC2, Wed to 26 Sep), set to a score by Martin Tétreault, which combines Prokofiev’s music with that of other composers.
